Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is the Amazon Web Service you use to create and run virtual machines in the cloud.

Here are different types of EC2 Instances:
  1. General Purpose Instances
  2. Compute Optimized Instances
  3. Memory-Optimized Instances
  4. Accelerated Computing Instances
  5. Storage Optimized Instances

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) are two major storage services for AWS. S3 is more lightweight and provides the capability to store data. EC2, on the other hand, is a web service that provides secure, resizable computing capacity in the cloud.

AWS supports everything you need to build and run Windows applications including Active Directory, .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows desktop-as-a-service, and all supported versions of Windows Server.

Use virtualbox to create a new virtual machine, make sure that it uses the VHD format (The OS is 20 gigabyte). Install the Windows 10 image onto it. Make sure to set a username password on the administrator account otherwise cannot connect trough remote desktop. Restart the virtual machine.

AWS supports everything you need to build and run Windows applications including Active Directory, .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows desktop-as-a-service, and all supported versions of Windows Server.

Is Microsoft software supported on AWS? Yes. AWS Support has been successfully supporting our customers who run Microsoft Windows-based EC2 instances in the AWS cloud since 2008 when we first launched Windows Server on EC2.

Customers using our EC2 service and all the services running on EC2 can use Amazon Linux as their operating system of choice.
